Pot odds convert the price of a call into a break-even equity percentage. If your hand wins often enough relative to that price — and you are not giving up valuable future play — calling is profitable in chip EV terms.

- How do you calculate required equity from pot odds?
- Required equity is the amount you must call divided by the total pot after you call. For example, calling £50 into a pot that becomes £200 needs 25% equity to break even before future betting.
- Should my call amount always equal the opponent’s bet?
- Often yes when facing a single bet with no prior commitment. Edit the call field if you are partially invested, facing an all-in for less, or accounting for a different price.
- What does estimated call EV mean?
- It is a simplified no-future-action estimate: (equity × total pot after calling) − call amount. It ignores implied odds, rake, multiway dynamics, and tournament ICM.
